Sister Cities PROGRAMS

At the heart of "Sister Cities" is our focus on building person-to-person relationships that are putting faces to places. Our exchange programs enable members to travel to our sister cities, stay with host families, study, work, participate in cultural events, learn and grow. In turn, members also serve as hosts and hostesses when visitors come to Las Cruces. For many, these shared experiences have become warm friendships.

EDUCATIONAL EXCHANGES

We have made a strong commitment to encourage understanding through student exchanges. High school students from Las Cruces have studied in Nienburg and Lerdo, and vice versa.

At the college level, Doña Ana Branch Community College has an exchange program with Centro de Bachillerato Technológico Industrial y de Servicios Numero 4 in Lerdo, Mexico. College students here and abroad have applied for exchanges to do work/study/practica in their major field.

CULTURAL/SPORTS EXCHANGES

We have sponsored numerous cultural exchanges involving music, dance and other arts, which are among the universal languages.

The Mayor's Cup Soccer Exchanges involving both Lerdo and Las Cruces  and high school swim co-training are programs, which are becoming sports traditions.

FRIENDSHIP DELEGATIONS

Members enjoy participating in exchanges to both Lerdo and Nienburg, usually organized in conjunction with local festivals and cultural events.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Our fundraising projects and special event programs provide  opportunities for members to interact with each other and the community.
